President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Saturday, November 18, that he plans to issue a proclamation tagging communist rebels as “terrorists.”
“I’ll be issuing a proclamation. I will remove them from the category of a legal entity or at least a semi-movement, which would merit our attention, placing them pareho sa Amerika (as in America): terrorist,” Duterte said.
Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Founder Jose Maria “Joma” Sison criticized President Rodrigo Duterte’s plans in tagging the communist rebels as “terrorists”.

In an interview with News 5, Sison said that the government forces have killed more innocent civilians compared to their group.
