In his Speech in Camp General Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu said “Never was a time na walang ibang — hindi ako nagyayabang. Walang ibang presidente, dalawa lang, ang nagbigay na atensyon na kinakailangan para sa isang sundalo. Ako lang pati si Marcos,”
“Marcos was also a lover of soldiers,” he added.
Duterte also assured that the salary increase for the soldiers will soon reflect in their payrolls.
The President conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu both Kamagi and Kampilan medals on the soldiers who fought in Marawi City and promised to throw a Christmas party for soldiers who will be left at the military camp over the holidays and would even send them on an all-expense-paid trip to Hongkong.
“Uuwi ba halos kayong lahat? Kasi ‘yung magpaiwan, tiis lang kayo. Hong Kong ang prize ninyo basta magpa-iwan dito. Hindi pwedeng magdala ng asawa. Kabit lang,” Duterte said.
“Sige ‘yung maiwan lang dito sa kampo hindi ko naman kayo mapadalang lahat. Maybe one or two or three or four. Magandang collection, ‘di lahat,” he added.
President Rodrigo Duterte also gave out wristwatch to those soldiers celebrating their birthday before leaving the camp.
